Hopefully, all credit for this makes it where it's due. I understand such muted tones aren't everyone's cup of tea, so I'll include the Grim Fortress palette, modified from Lee's Natural Color Scheme, both of which I've enjoyed for many hours. Lastly, I called upon my drab New England sensibility to throw together a new color palette. I swapped out some of the specialty tiles for my own creations, fancied up the font ever so slightly, and recreated the dwarf tiles to resemble those poor fools of Grim Fortress. I used Lowright's low-opacity fill technique on certain ground tiles to wash out some of the contrast and improve readability. This set is mainly based on Anikki's 20x20 tileset, which in turn is based off the work of Tocky and Plac1d. The only downside for me was its 12x12 size, so I set out to scale it up to 20x20. I've always liked simple tilesets that beautify and clarify the ASCII look, and I think the gold standard of that is Lowright's wonderful Grim Fortress. Just wanted to share with you all my first tileset and give a little back to the community that I've gotten so much from. Those idiots are on top of the cliff, while the river is down in the valleey.Hi, everyone. The Guybrush Set is a 16×16 set that is a modified variant of Herrbdog’s tileset with some slight variations in color combinations and design scheme. Hahaha, I just started my new fortress- near a river. I didn't see it myself, and it got taken out in one or two turns, but I must say I'm intrigued." While leaving the cave, my party was attacked by a CAVE SWALLOWMAN. I managed to take out a giant my first try and, while I sustained some damage, it was no longer the five minute "the shot glances away"-fest it usually is. Example to compare: Default DF settings Custom DF settings clinodev 4 yr. Damage in general seems to have been given slight tweaks to make your characters a bit stronger vs. ago I prefer ASCII, my recommended setup: Tileset: Nagidal square ASCII Tileset (personally like 'plain' version) Color scheme (default sucks): Natural or Lee When using DF's TWBT (TextWillBeText) I throw in Curses Vector for text. The cave I played didn't have a large starting room but rather a fairly straight path from the start to some branches farther in (which, to be honest, feels more like how a cave should be laid out). They usually come with certain tilesets and are designed to work together. Graphics sets are used to change the appearance of creatures in the game. Changing game files can sometimes cause unexpected results, and should always be done with care and caution. The interior layout has also been changed up. The content is not part of normal DF as released. They also have much larger entrances (probably to distinguish them from regular slopes). They can be made out of different types of stone (I found one made of clay, so the inside was blood-red). Its not really clear if community tilesets will be able to make use of it in the Classic version or if enhanced community tilesets will be exclusive to the Premium. Speaking of, there must be some trick to knowing where the cave's been placed in a particular square, but I don't quite get it. The steam version tileset is not just a 'tileset' but uses a lot of technology that was developed purely for it and that currently existing tilesets thus dont have access to. If you're looking for a cave, you could very well walk all the way into the next square looking for it (as I did). The downside of this is that it can make it much harder to find things now. Verify the tileset image was extracted to data/art/kruggsmash.png. Otherwise place the image/palette as described in Step 2. If using the Complete Package, simply copy the data folder to replace the one in your Dwarf Fortress folder. You can now.dun dun duuuuuun.walk BETWEEN SQUARES on the map without traveling! I don't know if the entire world is continuous, but it would seem so. Complete Package Alternate Downloads Tileset (512x512) Tileset (2880x2880) Color Palette Installation 1. A new "swimmer" ability is available to your starting adventurer, although I've yet to find any water that's swimmable. Top Con Completely graphical tileset People who are not open to others not having to play the game the way they've played it may be somewhat salty. There may be extra files with your tileset (dwarf graphics n stuff) generally the files will be structured already (graphics go in rawgraphics, init files go in datainit). Experiences 2 Pros 2 Cons 1 Top Pro Completely graphical tileset Shows images in the tiles rather than using ASCII-like characters. Also, there's some creative use of three dimensions, such as buildings built into the side of hills so you can walk on their roofs. Change the default tileset (probably curses640x300.png) to your tileset name. There doesn't appear to be a "main road" anymore, at least there wasn't in the town I saw. Town layout is much more random than it used to be.
